Robot servants may be a staple in futuristic sci-fi movies, but groundbreaking new research in Hatfield has brought them a step closer to reality.

Scientists at the University of Hertfordshire have been designing prototype robots which could help elderly people stay in their homes.

And pensioners from across Times Territory have been busy testing them out – with one describing the research as “amazing”.

A specially-created Robot House at the Hatfield campus showed the devices, called Care-O-bot 3s, can answer the door, carry items and give reminders about medication and appointments.
