Thugs threatened a young woman in Potters Bar, claiming they had a knife, and stole her bag.

She was walking down Darkes Lane on Friday at 11.30pm when two men sidled up to her and demanded the victim, who is in her 20s, give up her bag.

Both men approached them from different directions robbed her and then ran away down different ends of the road.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and would particularly like to speak with a group of youths who were outside McDonald’s.

The first robber is described as a white man, in his 20s, between 5ft 10ins and 6ft tall and wearing a two tone jacket.

The second is described as a white man, in his 20s, wearing a black puffer jacket.

Detective Sergeant Alex Warwick, investigating, said: “The victim was understandably very shaken by what happened and we have been conducting a number of enquiries.

“We believe that at the time of the offence, a group of men were standing outside McDonald’s, and may have seen the offenders before or after the incident. If you were in this group, please contact me as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Alex Warwick via Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number J3/13/939.
