A road in Welwyn Garden City has been reopened after a two-vehicle collision this afternoon.

Bessemer Road was closed in both directions down to the junction of Bridge Road East after a grey Chevrolet and a silver BMW were in collision.

Police were called at 1.49am to the collision. Two people were taken to hospital for treatment.

One person had to be freed from a car by fire crews, who removed the roof of the car with cutting equipment and provided trauma care before the ambulance arrived.

The road has now been reopened in both directions.
