REVISED plans for the new, downgraded QE2 Hospital will be presented to Welwyn Hatfield Council tonight (Thursday).

Councillors on the planning control committee deferred a decision on the application by NHS Hertfordshire last month, as they remained unconvinced that car parking at the site in Howlands would not have an impact on the surrounding area.

The Primary Care Trust had proposed just 345 spaces for the new local general hospital, to be shared equally between staff and visitors.

NHS Hertfordshire was given three months to come up with a solution – but has returned with a new proposal in less then one.

The new submission includes provision for a temporary car park with 225 spaces for staff and visitors, parking for contractors and provision for a deck car park.

The planning committee will meet in the council chamber at Campus West, WGC, at 7.30pm.
