INITIAL designs for the local general hospital that will replace the QE2 have been unveiled.
The plans for the WGC site were on show at a stakeholder event hosted by NHS East and North Hertfordshire.
The workshop, held at BioPark in Broadwater Road, WGC, was attended by more than 70 people, including representatives of patient groups, councillors and NHS organisations.
The 30m hospital will take the place of the QE2 as we know it when major services, such as A&E and maternity, are centralised at the Lister in Stevenage.
Construction could start as early as next year, with the hospital ready to open at the end of 2013.
