WORK to enhance disabled access at a popular WGC venue will start this spring.

Welwyn Hatfield Council has set aside £327,400 to refurbish the Campus West theatre and Rollercity skating rink.

As well as improving access for the disabled, work will include the erection of an external canopy and measures to make the building more energy efficient.

Councillor Alan Franey, executive member for resources, said: "We need to ensure our 3,000 customers a week are served appropriately and receive exceptional service.

"The building improvements will help the Campus West team to better meet our customer needs and expectations."

A council spokeswoman added the building, on The Campus in WGC, would remain "open as usual" throughout the refurbishment programme.
