AROUND 180 worried residents gathered on Saturday to hear the latest developments in the campaign to stop a 270,000 tonne incinerator being built in Hatfield.
There was standing room only at the North Mymms Memorial Hall in Station Road, Welham Green, as people from across Times Territory united in opposition against plans to construct a 200m waste burner at New Barnfield in Travellers Lane.
The meeting, organised by campaign group Hatfield Against Incineration (HAI), featured speeches from Tory MP Grant Shapps and parliamentary candidates Mike Hobday (Labour), Paul Zukowskyj (Lib Dem) and Jill Weston (Green).
The speeches were followed by a question and answer session allowing residents to voice their own concerns about the incinerator proposal.
