Welwyn Hatfield Council revealed there were 203 verified reports of fly-tipping incidents last month.

There have been several reports circulating on social media of incidents in and around the borough – however a WHC spokeswoman said the amount reported is 12 per cent less than in March 2017.

She added: “We are working with colleagues throughout Hertfordshire as part of the Hertfordshire Fly Tipping Group to help reduce the number of fly-tipping incidents across the county.

“The most recent campaign, launched in March, encourages residents and businesses to follow the S.C.R.A.P. code, which provides a check list to follow when arranging one off collections.

“We encourage residents to report fly-tipping through our website, or by phone or email.”
