Fine curry, crisp beer, and smooth coffee is all on offer at a newly refurbished pub.

The Steamer, in Welwyn, has re-opened after a £150,000 revamp and the landlord wants to put the London Road boozer at the heart of the community.

Dan Tubbs said on Friday: “We re-opened last Saturday, it was really good.

“There was lots of interest as it was closed for four weeks so the village got talking about it.”

It is hoped villagers will take the pub to their heart and the star chefs at the Delhi Hut will hopefully win them over.

After 5pm the curry kings take over the pub’s food, although there is traditional fare in the day.

Mr Tubbs said: “I just want to highlight it is there for the community, everyone is welcome. It is not just for specific customers.

“That’s the biggest message we want to get out there.”
