A RECORD 4,000 has been raised for charity by an annual sponsored swim organised by Brookmans Park Rotary Club.

More than 60 primary school children and 50 adults, including members of churches and swimming clubs, took to the water at Furzefield Leisure Centre in Potters Bar to reach the cash total.

The successful swim will mean money is sent to Rotary supported charities at home and abroad, including Old Hatfield-based Willow Foundation and Isabel Hospice in WGC.

Rotary club president Steve Northcott said the swim had become a popular community event, particularly with children who enjoy the excitement of competing against their friends to see who can swim the most lengths of the Furzefield pool in 20 minutes.
