Racist gang attack at Hatfield nightclub

PUBLISHED: 18:05 07 October 2011

A MAN was assaulted in a racially-aggravated attack by a gang outside a nightclub.

The victim had left the Forum Hertfordshire in Hatfield in the early hours of Sunday and had got into the back of a friend’s vehicle in the car park.

It was then a man walked up to the car, banged on the window and started shouting racist abuse.

The thug was joined by four or five other men and the victim was assaulted – although one of the gang tried to stop his pals.

The gang then left in a taxi.

The victim suffered minor facial injuries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the attack at the University of Hertfordshire venue, in College Lane.

Detective constable Annette Sims said: “I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time or can identify the offenders to come forward.

“I would particularly like to speak to two girls who helped the victim after the incident and the man who tried to intervene.

“They could have information vital to my investigation and I would encourage them to get in touch.”

Call Dc Sims on 101 with information.
