THE QE2 Hospital site emerged as the favourite from results of the four group discussions at Friday's meeting.

Reporter Naiomi Madden went round each of the tables to add up group scores given to each of the criteria.

Scoring a high mark of 124.5, the WGC hospital was above the other two sites.

Hatfield Business Park was not far behind with a score of 103, although the Herts County Council depot was way below with just 40 marks.

The decision over the site comes as a new two-month consultation period is launched about a new GP-led health centre, which the PCT wants to site alongside the planned local general hospital.

The centre will provide services, including walk-in appointments, daily from 8am to 8pm.
