THREE lucky schoolchildren have won a competition to design a politician's official Christmas cards.

Talia Decent, 15, who goes to Chancellor's School in Brookmans Park, Jakub Gniewek, 12, from Onslow St Audrey's in Hatfield and Phoebe Partington, nine, who attends Panshanger Primary School in WGC, won a contest to create Christmas cards for Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps.

The cards will now be sent community and national leaders including Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Conservative leader David Cameron.

And the winners, along with fellow school pupils, will also be invited to meet Mr Shapps and visit the Houses of Parliament.

Mr Shapps said: "I'm really grateful to everyone who entered the competition - there was such a high standard and it really made me proud of our local schools.

"It was difficult to choose winners, but I'm really pleased with the three designs that won.
