A Welwyn Garden City based business is handing over a £5,000 cheque to Children in Need's mascot Pudsey Bear.
For this year’s Children in Need fundraising appeal, staff at PayPoint’s head office, based in Shire Park, in Welwyn Garden City, are welcoming the iconic Pudsey Bear.
Pudsey is due on Thursday, November 17, to receive a cheque donation of £5,000 from Paypoint’s CEO, Dominic Taylor.
A spokeswoman for PayPoint said: “We thank Ingenico who have donated two credit and debit card PIN pads to allow us to take contactless (Apple Pay and Android Pay included) payments for people wanting to donate, but who don’t carry cash. We are really pleased and excited to be able to offer alternative payment solutions to our colleagues and in a way that’s in line with our business technology.
“We have lots of fundraising activities planned, including the cheque presentation, fundraising walk-round with Pudsey accepting contactless payments and our annual Pudsey’s pub quiz at Gosling Sports Park in WGC. We have also planned a raffle, bake sale, face painting, fun run and children’s colouring competition to raise additional funds for this fantastic charity.
“Last year PayPoint employees fundraised and donated a staggering £7,792.67 and we are hoping to beat this total for the 2016 appeal, especially with the ability to take contactless payments.”
