A PUBLIC consultation on plans to build an incinerator in Hatfield has been opened today (Monday).

Hertfordshire County Council is now seeking residents’ opinions on Veolia Environmental Services’ controversial proposals for New Barnfield, off Travellers Lane.

The application seeks permission to demolish the Central Resources Library, and in its place build a “recycling and energy recovery facility for the treatment of municipal, commercial and industrial wastes”.

It also proposes building bulking and transfer facilities, an administration/visitor centre, wildlife habitat and improved drainage and highways.

Residents have from now until Tuesday January 31 to submit their comments on the proposals.

You can comment on the application by writing to New Barnfield planning team, Spatial and Land Use Planning, CHN216, County Hall, Pegs Lane, Hertford, Hertfordshire, SG13 8DN.

Alternatively email newbarnfieldplanning@hertscc.gov.uk
