A CAR park in a village is to have its fees increased in a bid to stop commuters taking all the spaces to the detriment of businesses.

Northaw and Cuffley Parish Council has decided to increase the cost by 50p a day after receiving a letter from a business in Sopers Road industrial estate in Cuffley.

It said the council car park costs £1 less per day than the one at the railway station, resulting in commuters taking all the spaces by 7am.

This leaves hardly any room for those visiting the industrial estate.

Now it will cost £3 a day to park there, which councillors hope will encourage commuters to use the station car park.
