A MEETING dedicated to preserving Ebenezer Howard's Garden City legacy within the European community has taken place in Paris.

And WGC was represented at the convention by Lib Dem borough councillor Tony Skottowe, who attended on behalf of the Welwyn Garden Heritage Trust.

The meeting, which also involved delegates from Belgium, the Czech Republic, Hungary and France, was held to discuss ways that Garden Cities could work together to promote tourism and create sustainable communities for the future.

Cllr Skottowe said: "It was great talking to people of so many nationalities, all of whom know just how important Ebenezer Howard's ideas have been and who are determined to push his model as a solution for the future.

"I just hope this might be the start of linking all the garden cities in Europe together so we can show everyone just what great places they are."
