The prospects for a wider A1(M) motorway north of Welwyn Garden City, long-cherished by many local motorists, have improved thanks to approval in principle by County Hall.
A county council committee has included widening the motorway north of Junction 6 (Welwyn) in a list of potential schemes in its long term plan known as Transport Vision.
The reduction to two lanes at the junction causes regular northbound traffic queues in the evening rush hour.
