A NEW school is being "sent in the right direction" by its new headteacher, according to staff.
Oak View School in Woods Avenue, Hatfield, was opened in September and has finally appointed a new head.
Yvonne Davis took over pupils from the now defunct Stream Woods and New Briars schools at the beginning of the term.
A spokeswoman for the school said: "She has got some good ideas and I think the school is going how she wants it.
"The kids seem to take to the changes better than the adults. But she has been great so far."
Mrs Davis said she was "delighted" to be in her new position and looking forward to creating a learning culture.
She said: "We aim to work in partnership with parents and the wider community.
"We are so pleased with how the pupils have settled in their new school."
n Oak View School was formed after it was found that there was a surplus of 64 reception places in the centre and south of Hatfield.
This led to last year's merger and the centralisation of teaching at the former Stream Woods School site.
A couple of mobile classrooms were added and an interior refurbishment took place before the official opening of Oak View School last September.
