A power cut has caused the Post Office in Welwyn Garden City to close early.

The branch, inside Costcutter, in Howardsgate, was in darkness this afternoon (Wednesday).

Signs at the store read: “Due to circumstances beyond our control this Post Office is closed until further notice.

“Nearest other offices: Peartree, Shoplands, Hall Grove.”

A member of staff was heard telling one customer: “Unfortunately, we’ve got no power - we’re powerless.”
