BUDDING young swimmers in Potters Bar were riding the crest of a wave when rewarded for making a big splash in the pool.

Youngsters at the Furzefield Centre-based Dolphin Swimming Club picked up special awards to mark their swimming efforts, with one picking up a particularly impressive award.

Sophie Campbell landed the club’s Joy Bowyer Cup, achieved because of particular effort and perseverance during the year.

Thirteen other swimmers were handed the club’s Dolphin Award.

They were: Abigail Best, Gemma Best, Susan Bugg, Alice Byrne, Rachel Connery, William Coomes, Alex Fosh, Amir Guppy, Megan Hague, Jessica Haws, Zoë May, Louie McArdle and Callie-Ann Miller.

The awards were handed out at the club AGM by District Guide Commissioner Caroline Parkes.

The swimming club, which has been operating for more than 40 years, is made up of youngsters from the town’s guide and scout groups.

Staff are all volunteers and the club is on the lookout for extra help. Anyone interested should contact Martin on 01707 850987.
