IT'S official... Potters Bar schoolchildren Jack Fox, James Hodge and Amber Todd have the X factor!

In conjunction with Hertsmere Borough Council and Top Hat Stage School, the children have each been awarded a prestigious scholarship to the drama institution.

They all took part in auditions to show off their talents in dance, drama and singing, with a chance of winning the one-year scholarships, worth 780 each.

The talented youngsters were officially acknowledged by Hertsmere deputy mayor Eddie Roach at a presentation evening last month at Elm Court Community Centre in Potters Bar.

Warren Bacci, principal of Top Hat Stage School, said: "This is the first time we have ever given away a year's scholarship before.

"I was very excited at the prospect of giving these places away to talented children who may not otherwise be able to afford attending a stage school."

All the winners are at schools in Potters Bar.

Jack, seven, who goes to Oakmere Primary School, said: "I'm just so happy to win the Top Hat audition.

"I've never done anything like this before and when I grow up I want to be just like my idol Elvis!"

James, 10, of Cranborne Primary School, said: "Acting is quite new to me.

"I've only ever done a few things at my school and I couldn't believe that I was chosen.

"I am so chuffed!"

Mount Grace pupil Amber, 12, said: "I was so shocked that I was picked! I can't wait to get started at Top Hat.
