Sainsbury's FairShare in Potters Bar

POTTERS Bar shoppers gave generously to a charity targeting food poverty in the UK.

The Million Meal Appeal is a joint venture between national charity FairShare and Sainsbury’s, and the Darkes Lane store of the supermarket chain joined in with collecting.

Shoppers donated items such as tinned food, tea and coffee over the weekend to help go towards a national collection.

Lindsay Boswell, CEO of FareShare, added: “The Million Meal Appeal has come at a crucial time. Around 5.8 million people live in deep poverty in the UK, meaning they struggle to afford everyday essentials like food.

“We thank Sainsbury’s Potters Bar customers for supporting the Appeal and helping us to provide even more food to the charities and community projects we support across the country.”
