Hertfordshire Constabulary and the borough council have agreed to fund Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) in Potters Bar for the 12th consecutive year.

The commitment to local policing in Hertsmere will see the borough council and Herts Police contribute £128k each for 2017/18.

Overall Hertsmere has 22 PCSOs, and maintaining them was identified as a priority by residents in a council survey conducted last year.

Hertsmere Chief Inspector Steve O’Keeffe said: “The continued support of the council in funding additional PCSOs is very much appreciated and allows additional support and investment into community concerns and problem-solving at a local level.”

The funding was agreed as part of the council’s budget in February.
