Police hunting a dog that may have been stolen from St Albans have arrested two from Potters Bar.
A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of theft while a 55-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation.
Both have been released on police bail until September 30.
The arrests came after a one-year-old black and white French bulldog, called Gordon, disappeared from his home in Worley Road, between 1pm and 3pm on Thursday, August 13.
It’s alleged the dog was found and, between 3pm and 4pm, taken to an address in Potters Bar where it was believed his owner lived.
However after police called at this address, they were unable to find Gordon.
PC Clare Lapenna, who is investigating, said: “Understandably the owners of Gordon are distressed by the loss of their pet and want to be reunited with him as quickly as possible.
“I would ask anyone with any information about this incident or the possible whereabouts of Gordon to contact me as soon as possible.”
Anyone with any information should call PC Lapenna via Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference F1/15/2879.
