A mother who was dealing drugs in Potters Bar was spared jail only because she has two young children.

Charlotte Wright, 33, who ran a fish stall, was caught with £1,800 of cocaine on August 21 last year, St Albans Crown Court heard.

She had bought the drugs wholesale and was hoping to make an £800 profit because she was in debt.

When police raided her home, 10.1 grams were found on top of a wardrobe, and 8.2 grams were in the fish stall, said prosecutor Richard Mandel.

Wright, of Dugdale Hill Lane, Potters Bar, pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine with intent to supply at court on Thursday, March 3.

Judge Jonathan Carroll told her Class A drugs were “pernicious, evil and destroy lives.”

He said he was not sending her straight to jail as an act of clemency for her two children, who are aged 9 and 11.
