Potters Bar’s MP Oliver Dowden has stressed the importance of upgrading local infrastructure as part of the borough’s Local Plan.
Hertsmere Council has recently asked residents for their views on trying to build around 9,000 homes in the area over the next 15 years.
Included in the suggested ideas are potentially including three garden suburbs in Potters Bar, each including between 300 and 500 homes alongside primary school provision and other local infrastructure. •New garden suburbs for Potters Bar?
Mr Dowden said: “Many constituents continue to raise with me their concerns over our local infrastructure.
“As any new development proceeds it is vitally important we have the infrastructure to go with it to make sure that local people have access to the schools, healthcare and transport they need.
“I have made this point repeatedly to the borough council as part of the ongoing consultation. I know they are aware of this issue and I shall continue to do all I can to work with them as they complete this process.”
He also urged residents to contribute to the consultation, adding it will “shape development in the area over the next two decades”.
