A WOMEN’S hockey club has made Potters Bar, Potters Bare, with a nude charity calendar.

The girls from Potters Bar Hockey Club, described as “seven of the club’s most athletic players”, have stripped off in aid of Help for Heroes, and to help finance a new clubhouse.

The calendar features a team of players, posing with hockey equipment cannily placed to spare their blushes and protect their modesty.

Potters Bar Hockey Club, part of the town’s cricket club, is aiming to raise 100,000 this year.

The current clubhouse is said to be in an “old and tired” state, but plays a vital role in the life of both clubs, acting as focal point for the sporting community of Potters Bar.

It is hoped that a new clubhouse will help to attract more young players to take up hockey and cricket in the town.

The clubhouse would also as ensure the players have a safe environment to socialise in after a hard game.

Shelley Farmer, who persuaded her teammates to get (most of) their kits off, said: “Many of the girls involved in the calendar have personal links to the Armed Forces and really wanted to support the incredible work that Help for Heroes does.

“The calendar was great fun to make and we are hoping to raise a lot of money for these two great causes.”

Calendars can be bought for 10 (plus postage) from Potters Bar Hockey Club’s website http://www.pottersbarhc.co.uk/shop
