Police are investigating two burglaries which both happened on the same day in Potters Bar.

Police were called to reports of a burglary at 4pm on Monday in Hill Rise after someone got in through a window.

A Herts Police spokeswoman told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “At this stage it appears that jewellery was targeted.”

In the second break-in, which they are not linking to the first, burglars broke into a home in Brackendale between 3.40pm and 6.45pm.

They smashed the glass pane on the back door and made a mess in the property.

Police say jewellery was also stolen in this break-in.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone who has information to get in touch on the non-emergency number 101.

If you are calling about the Hill Rise burglary, please quote crime reference 41/57780/18.

For the Brackendale break-in, you will need to quote 41/57777/18.
