POSTMEN across Times Territory have gone on strike this morning (Thursday) as part of a nationwide dispute with Royal Mail over pay, conditions and modernisation.
Mail centre staff and drivers walked out for 24 hours from 4am after talks between the Communication Workers' Union (CWU) and Royal Mail broke down late last night.
Delivery and collection staff will strike for 24 hours from tomorrow morning and further national strikes are expected as the dispute continues.
Royal Mail condemned the union's decision to go on strike, saying it had held around 80 meetings with the CWU in recent months in an effort to resolve this dispute.
