The parents of a young Welwyn Garden City man killed in an inexplicable road smash embraced the sobbing other driver, assuring him he was blameless.

Coroner Edward Solomons had just concluded there was no reason why a Ford Fiesta driven by 23-year-old Matthew Stansfield had suddenly veered into the path of Peter Faggetter’s vehicle recovery truck on Stanborough Road, Welwyn Garden City, just after noon on September 2 last year.

For a full report into the inquest, see the Welwyn Hatfield Times, in shops from tomorrow.
