Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have an opportunity next month to attend a business exhibition: the ‘Welwyn Hatfield Means Business Expo’.

Taking place at Oaklands College in Welwyn Garden City on Thursday, April 6, from 9am to 5pm, the event is designed to help businesses build relationships with each other, encourage the practice of buying local products, and invite businesses to apply for a grant of up to £1,000.

Crucially, it is free for all Welwyn Hatfield SMEs to attend.

Councillor Bernard Sarson, executive member for business, partnerships and public health at Welwyn Hatfield Council, is encouraging everyone to come along, find out about the new business grants, and take advantage of there being a wealth of Welwyn Hatfield SMEs all under one roof.

Councillor Sarson said: “There won’t be a better opportunity all year for owners and managers of small and medium-sized businesses to take a few hours out of their busy schedules to come and meet like-minded people who share similar business circumstances.

“Networking, sharing experiences, and exploring partnerships can be vital in business – so I urge everyone to come down for free advice, free seminars, and free refreshments including lunch.

“You will also have the chance to meet the borough council’s business support team, who will be happy to help and point you in the right direction.

“We’re also launching the WelHat Means Business Grant Scheme – this is a great opportunity for businesses to receive a cash boost for ideas that meet the criteria: prototype production or product testing, expanding into new markets or product areas, or buying equipment you need to improve efficiency or launch a new business.”

Businesses with fewer than 20 employees can apply to receive a grant before applications are shortlisted and a judging panel decides who has been successful.

To attend the business expo, register at www.welwynhatfieldmeansbusiness.co.uk where 1-2-1 appointments are also available to book; timetable available to view.
