THE owner of the dog which attacked two ponies and a young rider is being sought by police.

A police spokeswoman told www.whtimes24.co.uk: "At the time of the incident it appeared to be a matter for the council dog warden.

"However, we have now received further information regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident."

Pc Sarah Gilbertson, who is investigating, said: "We are eager to trace the owner of the bull terrier, which we believe may have been injured by the ponies and possibly a car, which was in a nearby car park.

"We think there may have been other witnesses to the incident either on the bridal path or in the nearby car park.

"We also want to trace the owner of the two other dogs as he may be an important witness."
