A POLICE warning has been issued to drivers who leave valuables on display in their vehicles after a theft from a car in Hatfield.

A handbag containing 17, credit cards, a driving licence and keys was stolen from a 19-year-old student’s blue Ford Fiesta, parked in Tesco in Oldings Corner, between 3.45pm and 4pm on Sunday.

Insp Ian Grout, Welwyn Hatfield neighbourhood inspector, said: “This is a common story if drivers leave their belongings on display in their car.

“It only takes an opportunist thief minutes to retrieve the items tempting them so take your belongings with you or put them in the boot out of sight.”

Anyone with information about the theft call police on 0845 33 00 222.
