A man has been arrested after reports of a knife threat in a Cuffley tandoori restaurant.

Police descended yesterday (Tuesday) after reports of a man being threatened by an attacker with a knife in Sonarbangla Tandoori.

The arrest was made later on in the evening.

One witness suggested armed police swooped, while others took to Twitter to ask why so many police were in the village.

A police spokeswoman said: “Police were called to an incident in Station Road, Cuffley, shortly before 5.50pm on Tuesday, February 3.

It was reported that a man had been threatened with a knife inside a restaurant following an altercation between two men who were known to each other.

“Officers arrived at the scene and a search was a carried out for the man, who had left prior to police arrival.”

No one was injured during the incident.

A 21-year-old man was later arrested at a police station in London and remains in custody.
