A number of police officers were carrying out a search in Welwyn Garden City last night after a man was reported as missing.

Eyewitnesses said they saw several police cars circling streets in the Chequers area.

Others heard the police helicopter overheard in and around Woodhall Lane.

A Herts Police spokeswoman told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “Police were called at 9.58pm last night to reports of a man in his fifties who had gone missing from Welwyn Garden City.

“Officers searched for the man, with the assistance of the police helicopter, and he was found between Chequers and Howlands shortly after 10.30pm.”
