A sweet-toothed Potters Bar thief had his van destroyed by police after he used it for thefts.

Police have released a video of Bobby Cousins’ white Ford Transit van being crushed, after they got permission from the court to destroy it.

Cousins, 33, of Highview Gardens, Potters Bar, used his van to steal meat, petrol and sweets from around Hertfordshire, including three boxes of Haribo, six boxes of chocolate, six tubs of Quality Street and £15 worth of Celebrations.

He was sentenced at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, March 10.

He was disqualified from driving for 12 months, ordered to pay £514.59 and put on a six month drug treatment rehabilitation programme.
