Police in Potters Bar have received complaints about an overly pushy man offering tree services.

Fed-up residents have warned he doesn’t take no for an answer, becomes unpleasant and rude, and even once blocked the road with his vehicle during an altercation.

One resident, who has a “no cold callers” sign on her door, said he persisted in pressing the doorbell after she had said she was not interested and had closed the door.

“This went on for at least 30 seconds, and he only stopped when I had to open our front door again,” said the resident, who wishes to remain anonymous.

Another resident said he had even climbed over her hedge to argue with her.

“He was extremely rude.”

A police spokesperson confirmed that there have been several reports from members of the public.

He added: “We had a call yesterday (Tuesday April 17) at around 6pm from a resident in The Walk, Potters Bar.

“A man offering tree services knocked and was quite intimidating and wouldn’t leave.

“He did eventually go and police were then called.”
