A woman was sexually assaulted as she was jogging through Welwyn Garden City in broad daylight.

The victim, a woman in her 40s, was running over the 20-Mile Bridge on the north side of Broadwater Road when she was approached by a pedestrian and cyclist who appeared to be together.

As she ran past the walking man, who was black, about 35, and about 5ft 6in tall, he grabbed her bottom.

She told police he had medium build with untidy looking short Afro hair, prominent cheek bones, puffy eyes and was wearing a heavy black jacket.

The slightly older cyclist, also black, had a more slender build, and was wearing a beige and red floppy hat and flared style tracksuit bottoms.

Police hope to speak to a smartly dressed woman of about 40 who was also in the area between 6.30pm and 6.45pm last Wednesday.

Detective Constable Jody Kay said: “If you believe this was you, please contact me. I would also like to hear from anyone else who was in the area at the time and who has any information which would assist the investigation to contact police.”

Anyone with information should contact DC Kay via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number B1/14/2541.
