A man has died and another is critical after the crash


A 25-YEAR-OLD who died in a crash in Woolmer Green in the early hours of this morning has been named as Karl Spencer.

Mr Spencer, from Bedford, was a passenger in the Audi A3 which collided with a lamppost during a police chase.

A second man, aged 20, remains critically ill in Addenbrookes Hospital, police confirmed this evening, Friday.

The crash is being investigated by officers from Essex, and has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the collision, which happened in Mardley Hill at around 2,40am,

Herts Police say the car had failed to stop for police on the Leisure Park in Stevenage.
