Police are upping patrols following a "mindless act of vandalism" that caused "extensive damage" to a car in Hatfield.

The silver Audi, parked in Northdown Road overnight on Monday, November 14, had all of the body panels and external mirrors damaged, and all of its windows smashed.

PC Shaun Buchanan, who is investigating, said: “We do not think this incident was targeted and believe it is a mindless act of vandalism which has caused not only extensive damage to the car but a considerable cost for repairs.

“This is another incident of criminal damage which has occurred in the area in recent months.

“We are increasing patrols in an attempt to trace those responsible, but I would ask residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police.”

He urged anyone with information to call 101, quoting crime reference number B2/16/4817.
