Police are appealing for help tracing a Hollesley Bay prisoner with links to Welwyn Garden City who has escaped.

Edward Stokes, 33, was reported missing to police yesterday (Wednesday, September 13) after he was absent from a roll call late in the afternoon.

He is serving a 20-month sentence for dangerous driving.

Stokes is described as white, with ginger hair and is of a slight build. He was last seen wearing grey Converse tracksuit bottoms, grey/black Airmax trainers and a blue body warmer with brown shoulders.

He also has a one-inch scar on his right thumb.

A police spokeswoman confirmed he had links to Welwyn Garden City as well as Essex, and advised members of the public not to approach him.

She added: “Anyone who believes they may have seen Stokes, or who has any information regarding his whereabouts, is asked to contact Suffolk Police on 101.”
