Police are hunting a man who assaulted an officer in Hatfield last night (Wednesday).

A police spokesman said a man pushed an officer “into an object” in Tesco Extra at Oldings Corner leaving them with minor injuries.

The offender is described as black, aged between 27 and 30, six foot tall and being of a stocky build.

He was wearing a black bomber jacket and had short black hair.

The man became entangled with police after they arrested a different man on “suspicion of fraud using a false representation” at the store at around 6.15pm.

He then ran away from police, who secured the area around the retail park to search for him.

Police were unable to find him.

If anyone has any information contact police on the non-emergency 101 number quoting B2/14/972.
