A police dog unit was called following a burglary in Welwyn Garden City.

Officers attended The Pastures at 9.05pm yesterday following reports that a crook had burgled a house before jumping over a fence towards the allotments.

Police searched the area and found a tobacco tin, jewellery box and ring box in the garden.

Nobody has been arrested at this stage, a police spokeswoman confirmed.

She urged anyone with information to contact officers via non-emergency number 101, quoting ISR 719 of November 27, or report online at www.herts.police.uk/report.
