Serious injury crash in Welwyn Garden City

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious injury crash today.

A Herts Police spokesman told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “At around 4.20am today (Monday May 7), a motorbike has been involved in a serious single-vehicle collision on Ascots Lane, Welwyn Garden City, for reasons not yet known.

“The male rider has suffered serious leg injuries and has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital in London for further treatment.

“The road has been closed at the junctions the A1000 and Howlands while the man was treated and the collision investigated.”

Beds, Cambs and Herts Road Police tweeted this morning just before 8am: “Ascots Lane in Welwyn Garden City is currently closed whilst we deal with a serious injury collision.

“Diversion via Chequers & Howlands.

“Access to Mill Green Golf Club via Boundary Lane.

“If you witnessed this collision, please call 101 quoting ref. 113 of 07/05/2018.”
