Police investigated a suspicious rucksack on the A1(M)


The southbound carriageway of the A1(M) was closed around Junction 4 for Welwyn Garden City for police to investigate a suspicious rucksack.

Police were called to the carriageway at 9.56am on Thursday, September 29, to reports of what was thought to be rucksack just into the Hatfield Tunnel.

Officers attended and the road was closed while they carried out searches.

No bag was found, however a wheel arch liner from a vehicle was found in the place where the rucksack was reported to be.

The closures were lifted at around 10.30am.
