The police were called to help paramedics in Hatfield after a patient became abusive.

Officers were called at 6.37pm yesterday evening (Wednesday, July 4) to assist an ambulance crew with a man who had become verbally abusive to them in Market Place.

A police spokeswoman said: “Officers attended and the man was taken to hospital.

“No offences were reported.”

An ambulance spokeswoman said: “Paramedics assessed the patient who was having complications from a long-term condition, and then conveyed him to Lister Hospital for further care.”
