Officers were called to the clothing store in Town Centre by a resident concerned for the public’s safety at 2.11pm this afternoon.

Police are currently at the scene and have cordoned off the area, a spokeswoman confirmed.

No-one is thought to have been injured.

A Peacocks spokeswoman confirmed it was nothing to do with the store, and rather came from the borough council-owned flats above it.

A Welwyn Hatfield Council spokeswoman said: “Our contractor is on site clearing the material and we are investigating how the facade was dislodged.”
