Two men suffer facial injuries in Hatfield assault

Police were called to Hatfield town centre in the early hours of yesterday morning following reports of an assault.

A Herts Police spokeswoman told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “Police were called at 3.50am on Sunday, October 21, to reports that a man had allegedly been assaulted and was in an alleyway in The Arcade, Hatfield.

“It is alleged that the victim was assaulted with a glass bottle.

“Upon arrival police established that another man, a 24-year-old from Welwyn Garden City, had also suffered injuries to his left ear and cheek.

“He had already been taken to hospital by friends.

“The first man was taken to hospital for treatment to a cut to his forehead.

“The 23-year-old from Derby was subsequently arrested on suspicion of GBH.

“He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.”
