Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Hatfield.

The alleged attack took place in the town in the early hours of yesterday (Sunday) morning.

It occurred in Wellfield Road between 2am and 3am.

A fight broke out outside the Town Inn, near to the burger van.

The victim ran from the scuffle, fell to the floor and was caught up by three to four men, who kicked him.

The victim, a man aged 33 from Hatfield, suffered a broken arm which required an operation.

Detective Constable Sonja Townsend, from the Local Crime Unit at Hatfield police station, said: “While this incident occurred in the early hours there may have been witnesses to what happened and I would ask anyone who saw the assault or the events leading up to it, to make contact with police as soon as possible.”
